How Will VisionQuest Continue Vision’s Story?

While VisionQuest continues Vision’s story after the events of WandaVision, the new series won’t just pick up where the 2021 sitcom left off.
In fact, showrunner Terry Matalas revealed that he built the story around two specific moments in the MCU, both of which showed what made Vision an interesting character.
The first came from Avengers: Age of Ultron, while the other was from the confrontation between two Visions in WandaVision. Both scenes dealt with identity, memory, humanity, and what made Vision the way he is.
He said (via GeekTyrant):
- “The two scenes that really inspired the show are two of my favorite scenes in all of Marvel canon, which is the last scene with him in Age of Ultron, and the Ship of Theseus scene in WandaVision. That was the basis of the series.”
In the Ship of Theseus scene, Hex Vision and White Vision talked about the question of whether something remains the same object after every one of its original components has been replaced, which is what White Vision has become.
While he now possesses the memories of the original Vision, he is far different from that being.
That said, the show explores Vision digging into what his old memories mean and whether he will return to the same Vision fans have known from the start.
