Mushoku Tensei began as a light novel series by Rifujin na Magonote, which is currently available to read in English. If you want to start reading it from where Mushoku Tensei Season 2 left off, we recommend starting at Volume 7.

Some Volume 7 events did get covered by the anime's second season, but fans of the light novel series agree that some scenes and plot points were rushed.

While well-regarded, the anime adaptation isn't perfect nor can it adapt every single chapter from the light novel.

As such, reading Mushoku Tensei after the anime from Volume 7 would ensure that you don't miss anything major when venturing into unadapted territory. The seventh volume begins after Eris' departure.

Of course, as most fans of the isekai series will point out, it's ideal to start reading the light novels from the beginning to ensure a good understanding of all plot elements and take the most out of the series.

There isn't a point in reading the Mushoku Tensei manga from anywhere other than the beginning, as Season 2 has almost caught up with it, so there isn't much new material to explore.

Some fans follow new chapters as they come, but if you're looking for a lengthier reading experience, going back to Chapter 1 would be best.

Currently, there are under 70 manga chapters. Compared to the light novel, which counts over 20 volumes, the manga isn't too far into the story yet.

Moreover, fans of Mushoku Tensei feel that the manga isn't the best adaptation of the light novel material.

Aspiring readers could start at Volume 14 or Chapter 65 if they're really keen on skipping previously covered adventures.

However, this won't ultimately be the best reading experience. Fast readers are likely to complete the whole manga in under a day.

If you're looking for a long-term read that will keep you busy and give you the ultimate conclusion, reading the light novel is your best bet.
