What Is Sakamoto Days All About?
For the uninitiated, Sakamoto Days is a manga series written and illustrated by Yuto Suzuki that is currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump.
It follows Taro Sakamoto, a formerly notorious hitman who enjoyed legendary status in the underground world due to his skills.
However, this all changed when Sakamoto fell in love. From there on, his life went down a much more conventional path.
He started dating his beloved, got married, had a child, and left his past as an assassin behind.
Now a convenience store owner, Sakamoto looks nothing like the assassin he used to be. But his past catches up with him and forces him to engage with the underground world once more.
Accompanied by Shin, a young employee at his convenience store who happens to have telepathic abilities, Sakamoto fights to protect his simple life and his family at all costs.

Why Should Sakamoto Days Get an Anime?
So far, Sakamoto Days has nine volumes and several more chapters that have not yet been collected in tankobon volumes. The manga has also won the U-Next Prize and has been nominated for several more awards.
Sakamoto Days works because it's really fun; Sakamoto must find creative ways to subdue his enemies since he no longer wants to kill others. This is bound to create hilarious drama that we'd love to see animated.
Already, shows like Spy x Family prove that light-hearted comedy anime about (former) ruthless members of the underground world can work out really well, so Sakamoto Days would have a nice precedent if it goes down that path.

Will Sakamoto Days Get an Anime?
As of writing, a Sakamoto Days anime adaptation has not been officially confirmed by an anime studio or other reliable source. However, since the summer of 2022, rumors and leaks have been circulating online.
On August 2022, a Twitter user claimed that information has leaked about a Sakamoto Days anime adaptation, according to users of the Chinese micro-blogging website Weibo.
Of course, without an official announcement, we cannot take a stance on this information.
What's interesting about it, though, is that no fan of the manga seems surprised or prepared to debate against the validity of this information.
This suggests that, although we can't be certain yet, those who have read the manga believe that a Sakamoto Days anime is a matter of time and a natural outcome for the fun and beloved manga.
