Marvel is currently in its fifth phase of movies and TV shows, the first of which, is the upcoming Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, which will be released in just a few days. Another upcoming Marvel miniseries we're looking forward to is Secret Invasion. The big question is when will Secret Invasion be released on Disney+?
Here's what we know so far.
When Will Marvel's Secret Invasion Be On Disney+?
As of this writing, the official release date of Secret Invasion has not yet been announced by Marvel. But the good news is that it is slated to arrive in the first or second quarter of 2023.
There are reports, however, that suggest the limited series will be released in two parts. But without anything officially announced from the MCU, all of these things remain a speculation for now.
What Is Marvel’s Secret Invasion About?
The official synopsis of Secret Invasion, as written on Disney+ Originals' website reads:
"Secret Invasion is a newly announced series heading to Disney Plus. The crossover comic event series showcases a faction of shape-shifting skrulls who have been infiltrating earth for years."
Secret Invasion is said to be the first crossover event of the MCU, which means it will be the bridge between Marvel Phase 4 and Phase 5 projects. The timeline of the series will continue from two 2019 released movies: Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home. This is because these two films involved the existence of the skrulls.
So in essence, Secret Invasion will give us more detail about the scrulls and how they landed on earth. It could also give us a glimpse into Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson) life away from S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson said:
"Well, I can have a whole life as Nick Fury that’s not Nick Fury at work. You know, we get to go home with me and see what happens with me at home or when I’m alone or when I’m not so strong."
Who Will Be In Marvel’s Secret Invasion?
The cast of Secret Invasion has been confirmed and will include the following actors:
- Samuel L. Jackson (as Nick Fury)
- Ben Mendolsohn (as Talos)
- Cobie Smulders (as Maria Hill)
- Martin Freeman (as Everett K. Ross)
- Don Cheadle (as James 'Rhodey' Rhodes/War Machine)
- Dermot Mulroney (as President Ritson)
- Kingsley Ben-Adir (as Gravik)
- Olivia Colman (as Sonya Falsworth)
- Killian Scott
- Emilia Clarke
- Christopher McDonald
- Irina Kara
- Carmen Ejogo
Although Emilia Clarke's character has not yet been revealed, there are reports that believe she will be playing Abigail Brand, a spy with powers. Brand is also the commander of S.W.O.R.D., which is a counter-terrorism organization that deals with aliens.
Another MCU leakster, MyTimetoShineHello, claims she will be Veranke, who is the queen of the Skrull empire. Another speculation is that Clarke will be G'iah, the daughter of Talos, who impersonated Pepper Potts in the comics.
We'll know for sure who Emilia Clarke will be playing once the series gets released.
Is There a Trailer for Marvel’s Secret Invasion?
Yes, the first Secret Invasion trailer was released in September 2022. The trailer gave us an espionage show with some of our favorite characters.
