The much-loved family-friendly animated series The Dragon Prince has been renewed for Season 4. Fans of the fantasy series have been waiting for almost three years now. Some have even wondered if Netflix decided to cancel the series. Fortunately, the streaming giant confirmed that The Dragon Prince Season 4 will be released this year.
Netflix surprised attendees of its Geeked Week event by showcasing the first sneak peek of the show's Season 4. In addition to this, they revealed that the original animated series will be returning for Season 5, 6, and 7 in what will be known as The Dragon Prince Saga. The company also revealed news of a video game that is currently being developed.
The Dragon Prince Season 4 Title
Season 4 of the Netflix Original series is being called The Dragon Prince: Mystery of Aaravos. It was created by Aaron Ehasz (from Avatar: The Last Airbender) and Justin Richmond specifically for Netflix.
The Dragon Prince Season 4 Release Date
The Dragon Prince Season 3 aired on Netflix in 2019. And ever since then, filming for the show has been on hiatus partly because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Another reason for the long break was that several women accused Ehasz (one of the creators) and Wonderstorm of creating a hostile working environment during the production of the series. These allegations have been denied by both parties. As of this writing, there hasn't been any update.
While Netflix has confirmed that the animated series will return for a fourth season this year, it has not given an official release date. The Dragon Prince Season 4 will not be coming to Netflix in July 2022. But we should expect it to be released later this year.
The show is expected to be released in November 2022.
The Dragon Prince Season 4 Story
Netflix teased fans via a mysterious teaser trailer, with The Dragon Prince Season 4 plot centering around who Aaravos is. The trailer simply shows Aaravos lifting up a stone figure of the show's main villain, Viren.
There's not much else that Wonderstorm has revealed in the trailer. In fact, the description on the YouTube video raises another mystery:
"Many questions remain following The Battle of the Storm Spire, but only one continues to haunt the very heart of Xadia: "Who is Aaravos?" Where did this enigmatic Startouch elf come from? What does he want? And what price will our heroes have to pay to stop him?"

The Dragon Prince Saga
With the immense popularity of the animated series, it's really no surprise why Netflix decided to renew the series for a Season 5, 6, and 7 return. The Dragon Prince Saga and the upcoming seasons have not yet been named by Netflix.
The Dragon Prince Video Game Release Date
Netflix revealed that The Dragon Prince video game is currently in the works. It will be a combat-based multiplayer game that will transport fans to Xadia. Players can play as a character from the show with skills similar to their roles.

The Dragon Prince Season 4 Trailer
You can watch the official The Dragon Prince Season 4 trailer here:
The Dragon Prince Season 4 trailer starts off with a scroll being opened to reveal a sky filled with constellations. This is quite similar to previous seasons where Aaravos opens a map of Xadia.
The camera then takes us to the cosmos before bringing us back to Earth. We see Viren come into the screen. And as he reaches for the sky, he starts turning into stone. As soon as he becomes a rock, we see a hand picking him up. And as it turns out, the hand belongs to Aaravos. Viren becomes a miniature pawn from a chess piece and Aaravos smiles coyly at him.
The screen then flips to feature the title of the Season and display the names of the show's creators.
There's not much detail we can decipher from the trailer. But if you're a huge fan of the show, things are looking exciting for the upcoming season.
