My Big Fat Greek Wedding is coming back for a third installment of the film. And the good news is that a release date for the film has already been set.
Focus Features, the distributor of the film, recently tweeted the schedule of the third film's release date. The tweet reads:
"#MyBigFatGreekWedding3 is coming to theaters September 8!
Director, writer, and star Nia Vardalos and the entire cast return for the latest Portokalos family adventure."
In addition to announcing the release date of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, the tweet released the first on-set image of the cast. They are currently shooting in Greece.

The movie brings back the original cast members, which include the following:

This is the first time Vardalos is directing My Big Fat Greek Wedding. She wrote and starred in the first two movies.
"The sweet friendship which bloomed from the producers' first taking a chance on me then grew into a beautiful relationship as they entrusted me to direct this installment of our franchise. We filmed our family reunion entirely in Greece which was thrilling for us all. Plus, we ate for free."
The movie is produced by Tom Hanks, his wife Rita Wilson, and Gary Goetzman. The executive producers are Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, and Steven Shareshian.
In an interview with Focus Features, Wilson shared:
"It's thrilling to have Nia Vardalos, Academy Award-nominated writer, not only in front of the camera as our star, but also behind the camera as our director, guiding our beloved cast for this third film shot on location in Greece. My Big Fat Greek Wedding has brought audiences joy for twenty-one years. I'm so happy that more joy is on the way."
