After gaining worldwide recognition for his 2020 movie Parasite, director Bong Joon Ho has earned the nod of Hollywood A-list stars who want to work with him in a future movie. The director was able to win the Best Picture award at the Oscars making this the first non-English-language film to do so. Joon Ho also won the Academy Award for Best Director.
With all the recognition that he's received, Hollywood already has a big future ahead for the director. And part of those plans is a sci-fi film with Warner Bros. called Mickey 17.
Here's what we know about the movie so far.
When Is Mickey 17 Release Date?
Mickey 17 is currently in production and it's a fast-paced one.
While the movie was first revealed in January 2022, it wasn't until May and July that the cast members were revealed. A month after that, principal photography started.
And just this week, Warner Bros. released a short teaser of the film along with its release date. Mickey 17 will be coming out to theaters on March 29, 2024.
What Is Mickey 17 Story About?
Details about the film's plot are scarce right now but we know that the film is adapted from a book called Mickey 7 written by Edward Ashton.
If the film will follow the story of the novel, we will be taking a look at a character named Mickey Barnes who is actually a clone on board an expedition towards Niflheim. The Expendable clone is just one of the many being used when things are dangerous or difficult.
After going missing for a day, Mickey7 gets replaced by his successor, Mickey8. Since duplicate Expendables are prohibited, the two work together to make sure the colony survives.
Who Is Making Mickey 17?
We already know that the movie will be directed by Bong Joon Ho and will be produced by Warner Bros. and Plan B Entertainment, Kate Street Picture Company, and Offscreen, Inc.

Is There a Mickey 17 Trailer Already?
A short teaser for Mickey 17 was released by Warner Bros. on December 6, 2022.
The 30-second clip gives us a glimpse as Robert Pattinson is inside a tank where other clones are kept.
