Violet Evergarden is a Japanese light novel series illustrated by Akiko Takase and written by Kana Akatsuki. It was adapted into an anime later on by Kyoto Animation and was released in 2018. The anime received a good response, and an original video animation aired a few months after the first season was finished.

We mentioned that Violet has clients. But what does that mean? What does Violet do? In the story, Violet is an Auto Memory Doll. Her role is to write on behalf of her clients. The said clients can ask a doll to do their work and deliver the project themselves. Most of the dolls enjoy their job as it gives them a chance to travel the world.
The job varies from ghostwriting to transcribing information. The doll should know what the client really wants to say for the letter to be concise with the client. Violet had issues with this before as she had trouble understanding her clients. As a doll, Violet soon learned about love. Speaking of love, Major Gilbert is the love interest of Violet. During the war, he was in charge of her.
In one instance, she saves both of them from the ambush but suffered intense injuries. He tried to convince her to live a free life and even confessed his feelings for her before saving her from falling debris. When she woke up, his body was gone.
What happens next is revealed in the movie. Fans will finally know if Major is still alive and if they end up together.
