Netflix's stop-motion animated film, Wendell and Wild, was created by Jordan Peele and Henry Selick. The film exudes the same charm as Selick's previous stop-motion hit film, The Nightmare Before Christmas, with this show focusing on telling the spooky story of a young girl named Kat.

Kat is a young orphan who is enrolled in Rust Banks all-girls Catholic school run by Father Bests, a corrupt priest whose heart is seemingly in the right place.

As soon as Kat enters the school, we learn that she is a Hell Maiden, but what is a Hell Maiden?

In Wendell and Wild, a Hell Maiden is a girl who can communicate and build relationships with demons, summoning them into the world. Hell Maidens have a special mark that identifies them from everyone else - a mouth with a complete set of teeth appears at the back of one of their hands.

Hell Maiden

Kat found out she was a Hell Maiden when she was bitten by the octopus Sister Helley brought to class. Sister Helley tries to help Kat, but Kat refuses, refusing to believe that Sister really wants to help her.

Meanwhile, in a drug-induced dream, demon brothers Wendell and Wild see Kat and hatches a plan around the fact that she is a Hell Maiden. The brothers trick Kat into making a deal with the demons to bring her mother back. They steal their father's hair cream and raise an army of the undead.

After being betrayed by demon brothers, Kat seeks Sister Helley's help to defeat her inner demons and be free from the clutches of the demon.

Aside from being able to make a pact with demons, being a Hell Maiden also gives unique special abilities, with Kat earning the power to see the future.
