What Is Bubble Anime Film About?

Anime film enthusiasts will certainly look forward to the upcoming Netflix film. Netflix collaborated with WIT Studio (which also developed Attack on Titan and Great Pretender). The film is entitled, “Bubble” which focuses on the laws of physics.

The film was created by Attack on Titan’s director, Death Note manga’s lead artist, Madoka Magica’s writer, and Promare’s legendary composer. For the voice cast, fans can expect Mamoru Miyano (who voiced Light Yagami in Death Note), Yuuki Kaji (who voiced Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan), and Jun Shison (who starred the Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day). The team was jampacked with well-known names in the industry that could raise the expectations of viewers. But what is the movie all about?

What Is Bubble Anime Film About?

Bubble will make its premiere on April 28, 2022 on Netflix. Japanese fans have the option to watch it in cinemas on May 13, 2022. The action-focused film is set in an alternate version of Tokyo. What makes it different from the Tokyo that we know is that the alternate universe has bubbles of rain that fall to the Earth because of the loss of gravity.

The film follows Hibiki who is interested in parkour. It is a kind of sport-related to environmental obstacles through leaping, climbing, and running. In one instance, he falls into the sea, surprised that it was different from the one he knew. A mysterious girl, who came from the bubbles named Uta, saved him.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica writer Gen Urobuchi explained that “I thought about playing around with a typical mermaid story: Instead of a girl ending up as bubbles after falling in love, why not have a bubble fall in love and transform into a girl?" While everyone was familiar with Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid, it seemed that Bubble is different from the classic tale or at least has a modern twist to it.

Uta and Hibiki hear a unique sound that is only audible to them. Since then, the two will be on a journey that can change their lives and the people around them. What kind of journey will it be, and how will everything align together will be revealed once the movie is released.
