Marvel Studios is making the most out of What If...?'s fun concept and the second episode of the animated spinoff series pretty much proves that the multiverse is truly worth exploring for its intriguing stories and shock value alone. Speaking of intriguing, Episode 2 marked the jaw-dropping "return" of the Mad Titan Thanos but there's one aspect to his character that was drastically altered. Instead of being portrayed as the menacing villain who is out to bring balance to the universe, he was presented as a fun-loving character who happens to be a member of the Ravagers.
The episode still talks about Thanos' villainous past and his quest to rule the cosmos but apparently, even the Mad Titan himself could have a massive change of heart. After being defeated by T'Challa aka Star-Lord, he officially abandoned his former life and joined Yondu's notorious team of bandits. The entire episode presents him in a completely different light and boy, he even cracks jokes and quips now! Totally weird if you'll ask me.
Unsurprisingly, Thanos switching from Mad Titan to "Glad Titan" had the entire MCU fandom talking on social media and while the reactions were mixed at first, he eventually won the hearts of fans. Check out some of the reactions here:

It's quite understandable how many fans were taken aback by this drastic change in Thanos' character because for a full decade, he was presented in the MCU's main timeline as a ruthless conqueror who will do whatever it takes just to rule the universe. But all jokes and quips aside, this nicer version of Thanos is definitely a character I would like to see more of in the future.
