What Happened to Wonjeong?
As it turns out, Wonjeong is reportedly being investigated and is facing serious allegations of sexual assault.
Although he wasn't directly named in the SBS report (via OTTPlay), Wonjeong's fans easily pieced together his identity thanks to a blurry video that provided enough context.
The report claimed that "Influencer A" was arrested with another man for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman hidden under the name "Woman B."
The group had drinks before proceeding to the other man's house, where the alleged crime took place. Upon waking up, "Woman B" heard recording noises and called the police. She claimed that both men had sexually assaulted her.
Furthermore, the report said that Wonjeong allegedly refused to let the police enter the room, which led to the involvement of the fire department.
"It has been confirmed that ‘Influencer A’ refused to open the door when the police showed up to investigate the scene. The fire department had to get involved to force the door open."
The prosecution is now handling the case as the Seoul Gangnam Police Station has finished its investigation.
If found guilty over the charges of sexually assaulting an unconscious victim, Wonjeong and his companion could face imprisonment of up to seven years.
The influencer has denied the allegations and claimed that the intercourse was consensual. The parties involved in the alleged crime are scheduled to appear for a court trial on January 17, 2024.
Meanwhile, the charges of illegal filming have already been dropped since the police did not find enough evidence on Wonjeong's phone.
Wonjeong's management, SOON ENT, has not yet released a statement regarding the news.
