Go Gun Hee is introduced early on in the Solo Leveling manhwa and the first episode of the anime adaptation. He's the Chairman of the Korean Hunters' Association.

Despite being an elderly man in his 80s, Go Gun Hee possesses strength, durability, and speed that we normally see in younger people. He also has telekinetic abilities known as the Ruler's Authority.

While he's stronger than the average human, the injuries he sustained forced him to retire from active Hunter duties relatively early, as his body gradually lost the ability to sustain its strength.

The discovery of healing magic did not help as much as he'd hoped, so the only way for him to stay involved was as Chairman of the Korean Hunters' Association.

Gun Hee is a fluent speaker of Japanese and English, which helps him liaise with international Hunter colleagues.

Go Gun Hee's fate in Solo Leveling is as complicated as the fantasy manhwa's ending.

We largely get to know Go Gun Hee through his interactions with Sung Jin Woo after the latter's level-up made him one of the strongest Hunters of all time.

The two often have to liaise and strategize together, especially after word of Jin Woo's abilities reaches Hunters outside of Korea.

Ultimately, Gun Hee seemingly perishes in the Monarchs' War arc of the manhwa when the Frost Monarch ambushes him in his office one night.

While Gun Hee couldn't foresee victory for himself, he showed formidable strength, and his fighting skills matched the Frost Monarch's for a while, buying Jin Woo some time.

Before all strength left him, Gun Hee was able to inform Jin Woo of what had happened. However, by the time Jin Woo found him, he had lost too much blood, and the Holy Water of Life didn't help him.

However, this isn't the end for Gun Hee's character. In the epilogue of Solo Leveling, Jin Woo convinces the Rulers to use the Cup of Reincarnation for the last time.

This creates a new timeline whereby Gun Hee is still alive as he never became a Hunter. Ten years later, toward the natural end of his life, he gets to meet Jin Woo, who tells him about their shared past in the old timeline.
