Ashborn has a lot of monikers in Solo Leveling, such as the Shadow Monarch, the King of the Dead, the Shadow Sovereign, the Ruler of Death’s Power, and most notably, the Greatest Fragment of the Brilliant Light.
The Absolute Being created Ashborn at the same time as all the other monarchs and rulers in the series.
He was the most loyal ruler to the Absolute Being, a blind follower despite knowing the truth about the never-ending cycle of war between the rulers and the monarchs.
Ashborn was once a ruler who had six wings but ended up ripping all of them off when he became a monarch.
What Happened to Ashborn in Solo Leveling?
After the rulers have taken down the Absolute Being, including Ashborn, a power within the latter emerges, and he ends up receiving the powers of death, which makes him stronger than any other ruler or monarch.
Then, Ashborn abandoned everything in his past life and joined the side of the monarchs due to his hatred for the rulers.
However, Ashborn was betrayed by two monarchs, Karan and Baran, and almost died in the process. He was successful in killing Baran, but Karan, on the other hand, managed to run away.
When Ashborn faced his fellow rulers, he asked them to kill him. But the rulers asked for Ashborn’s forgiveness instead.
This resulted in Ashborn going out of the picture and becoming neutral even after the rulers were overpowering the monarchs in the said war.
Until one day, Ashborn appeared before Antares, the sovereign of destruction.
Now, Ashborn is looking for a vessel that can contain and control his powers. The Architect offered his services to Ashborn, but it was actually the latter who discovered Jinwoo and took a liking to him.
Jinwoo became a player in the system, and he leveled up in strength.
When Jinwoo reached level 100, Ashborn turned his back on the Architect and bestowed his black heart on Jinwoo instead

Ashborn is an incredibly powerful character, said to be the strongest among the rulers and monarchs. He is known as the greatest fragment of brilliant light who surpassed the brightest fragment of brilliant light.
His powers are similar to those of the rulers in that he’s able to create gates and portals with Shadow Exchange.
He can also use dimensional travel and even has dimensional storage, which can preserve and monitor shadows. He can also buff his shadows by 50% with Monarch’s Domain.
He has immense mana and physical strength, which became even stronger after the power within him was awakened.
He is so strong that he can deal with both powerful monarchs, Baran and Karan, and brutally overpower them!
In addition, Ashborn has no problems creating a massive shadow army with his shadow extraction ability. He can also use the ruler's authority, similar to Jinwoo.
Most notably, Ashborn can bestow his powers, like what he did to Jinwoo. True enough, wherever Ashborn went, a trail of destruction was left in his wake.
