WGA Strikers Target Marvel Studios To Shut Down Wonder Man Production

It’s no question that Marvel has been pretty laggy in producing new films and series this year.

Apart from having to deal with massive layoffs during a shake-up at Disney, their content quality has also declined over the years, as well.

Now that writers have declared a WGA strike to fight for their right to fair compensation and joy security, above all things, MCU writers have taken upon themselves to target the studio at halting their production.

Writer Alex Bagg recently posted in a now deleted tweet (via The Direct) that he stands by other various WGA members picketing at the filming location of Disney+’s upcoming show, Wonder Man.

Wonder Man, which stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kinglsey, has no official release date yet, but has been filming for a couple of months now.

Journalist Hasan Piker and Comedian Adam Conover were among the WGA strikers crowd picketing at the filming location, noting that:

“If we shut this shoot down, Disney is going to lose a couple hundred thousand bucks. The most of these we shut down, the sooner the strike ends.”

In short, they aim to make Disney and Marvel realize that it would be more expensive to not work with the writers from the strike than to actually compensate for their creative contributions.

As they equally take note also that while there are ‘innocent workers’ simply doing their job on set who will likely be affected in the shut down, their cause is of greater importance for the future of all writers.

This is not the first time Disney or Marvel faced losing a huge deal of money, especially considering that they ‘had’ to have laid off a massive amount of workers to control their budget costs.

This is one of the many reasons why Marvel Phase 5 continues to be delayed, in an attempt of salvaging what’s left to show within the phase, they had to reduce the releasing films and series this year.

This leads to only having Loki Season 2 and Secret Invasion series set for this year.

Meanwhile, James Gunn’s last MCU project, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, is now out in cinemas worldwide.
