It's been two years now since the third season of Westworld aired and we haven't heard many updates about the upcoming fourth season which was in production a while ago. Now, after a long wait, we finally have our first look at the much-awaited next season of the hit series.

HBO has released the first teaser trailer for the eight-episode fourth season of Westworld as well as announced its release date which will be on Sunday, June 26. While the trailer didn't give us a glimpse of the season's main plot, it did show several random shots of the main characters in different places while the song "Perfect Day" is playing. With all the vagueness that is happening in this trailer, they did hint that some of them will be making a trip back to the Westworld theme park again.

Based on the footage, it looks like the upcoming season will continue the series' trippy storytelling. However, it is hard to tell for now what kind of direction they are going to take. The first two seasons received criticism for their complex storytelling. As a result, the creators decided to make the third season more straightforward although the latter half received mixed reactions.

To recap what happened at the end of the third season, Maeve and Caleb successfully fought against Serac with Dolores sacrificing himself, William was killed by a host replica of himself, Bernard got the closure with Arnold's wife, and Charlotte is seemingly poised to be the antagonist of the next season (at least that's what they might have implied).

Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Ed Harris, Luke Hemsworth, Angela Sarafyan, and Aaron Paul are expected to return in the next season.
