Earlier this year, multi-awarded actor Mahershala Ali was confirmed to play Marvel's well-known vampire-slayer, Blade. Previously played by Wesley Snipes, the reboot will reportedly begin filming this July, however, fans have also wondered whether Snipes would return for a major role in the reboot.
In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, 1998's Blade actor Wesley Snipes addressed whether he'll be back in the MCU's reboot. Snipes admitted, "No, not as of yet," and also joked that he's still working on his acting skills to join the mega-franchise. "I'm still working on my acting skills. So when I come up as an actor, maybe they'll reach out and say, 'Let's have a conversation,' or maybe they don't feel I'm ensemble player," the actor said.
Marvel is currently expanding a new roster of heroes with the MCU's Phase 4 while also featuring surprising returns of former beloved characters like No Way Home's unforgettable three-generation reunion of web-slingers, and the Illuminati's awesome cameo in the recent MCU milestone, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Of course, fans definitely want Marvel Studios to do the same for Wesley Snipes.
Despite Snipes' recent comment, this doesn't totally rule out that he can't return to the MCU. The Blade role had been completely turned over to Mahershala Ali, but Snipes could still play a substantial side character for the upcoming reboot.
Just last year, Snipes said that he is happy about Ali's casting for the reboot. He also unveiled his advice before the actor take over the role, "Make sure you're in shape, man. Make sure you're in shape. Try not to get hurt, that's a biggie. The demands of an action movie is you've gotta be an elite athlete. And being well-conditioned to survive and to avoid injury. And enjoy it while it lasts," Snipes told Yahoo.
Tune in for more updates about Mahershala Ali's upcoming Blade reboot.
