Wednesday became a huge success on Netflix when it premiered in the fall of 2022 and, since then, it has topped several viewership charts and received numerous awards and nominations including recognition for Jenna Ortega's performance.
After a long delay due to the recently-concluded Hollywood strikes, the series will finally begin filming its second season by early next year and fans have been eager to see the titular character's next adventure.
Now that the series has also successfully reintroduced The Addams Family to the modern audience, some are also wondering whether they will turn it into a new franchise with spinoffs featuring other characters in the universe.

Wednesday: Uncle Fester Spinoff Reportedly In the Works at Netflix
Bloomberg has reported that Netflix is planning to do a Wednesday spinoff series that will center on Fred Armisen's Uncle Fester.
There is no guarantee yet that it will move forward as no writers and deal have been made yet, but the report noted that Netflix is eager to do more The Addams Family shows in light of the huge success of Wednesday.
So far, Netflix has not confirmed the project yet. Aside from this title, they are also reportedly working on spinoffs of Extraction and Peaky Blinders.
It's not surprising to hear that the streamer is likely planning to do more The Addams Family shows given the phenomenon that Wednesday has become and there is a newfound interest in the property.
The series has also established that Uncle Fester has his own kooky adventures and a spinoff has enough potential based on how they set up the character. As long as the story works, there might be some interest from the audience to check it out as well.
There are also more characters in the property that they could do spinoffs of whether it's the prequel of Morticia and Gomez in their younger years or fan-favorites such as Cousin Itt and Lurch.
It might take a while before we'll hear any news on the show's potential spinoffs since these are just early conversations and there is still a chance that the Uncle Fester project might not end up happening.
