Webheads Begin Fan Casting the MCU's Gwen Stacy Amid New Spider-Man Trilogy Rumors

It looks like Tom Holland's journey as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's one and only Spider-Man is far from over and if the latest reports are to be believed, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have agreed to extend their "amazing" partnership which would see the actor appear in a new Spidey trilogy, apart from other potential crossover projects.

Sure, we still have Spider-Man: No Way Home to think about for now but the future is certainly looking very promising for the web-slinger. As it stands, specifics about the brand new trilogy have not been disclosed but given the fact that the Homecoming trilogy chronicled Peter's High School life, it would be safe to assume that the next three films (or more) will revolve around the character's college journey.

That being said, some fans believe it's only a matter of time before another of Parker's love interests in the comics, Gwen Stacy makes her long-awaited debut in the MCU. Of course, we're no longer stranger to the character who was previously portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard in Spider-Man 3 and Emma Stone in The Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2 but the question on everyone's mind is, which actress could end up getting cast as the charming yet feisty character?

Nothing has been officially confirmed yet but webheads have already begun offering suggestions on social media and a number of actors — from Anya Taylor-Joy to Elle Fanning have all popped up as favorites to become the MCU's Gwen Stacy.

With MJ still in the picture, it'll be interesting to see how a character like Gwen Stacy would factor into Peter Parker's personal life but the idea of Sony and Marvel killing Spider-Man's original MCU love interest isn't out of the question.

Spider-Man: No Way Home hits cinemas on December 17, 2021.
