We Might Be Able to See Ewan McGregor's Black Mask Face Off with Batman

Birds of Prey just landed a great cast member in the form of Ewan McGregor who will be playing the role of villain Black Mask. While some may think that this will be McGregor's only appearance in the DCEU, The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez gives hope that we could be seeing more of him down the line.

A fan had expressed that Black Mask may only ever appear once and never clash with Batman in the DCEU, to which Gonzalez confirms:

Of course, the deal could mean nothing. Granted how despicable Black Mask is, I think his death will be something we see coming in Birds of Prey, but there are a lot of ways that things could go differently. For one, maybe this movie could be Mask's origin, and the film will end with him behind bars and the mask permanently attached to his face.

Seeing that McGregor has face value, it would make sense that we would see Sionis without his mask in the film. After all, why get an extremely recognizable actor to play a villain who'll be behind the mask all the time?

Though Marvel films like to kill of their villains after one movie, it's worth noting that a lot of DC villains have made it past the end credits alive. Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor is still very much wreaking havoc in the DCEU, and Wonder Woman's Dr. Poison, though probably dead in the current timeline, actually managed to get away by the end of the film.

Whose to say the same won't happen for Black Mask?

Catch Birds of Prey in theaters Feb. 7, 2020.
