Watch the Opening Cinematic for Kingdom Hearts III

It's finally happening. After several years of waiting, Square Enix is finally going to drop Kingdom Hearts III in January, and the marketing is giving of a steady trickle of reveals. Just in we have the official opening cinematic for the game, and it recaps the entire story of Sora and the Kingdom Hearts franchise.

Fans of the original game will recognize the voice of Hikaru Utada as she provides the new song for this game called Face My Fears. This is actually the English version of the song, but even if there is a Japanese version, I'm guessing the original was meant to be in English, much like the first game's Simple and Clean.

Though the cinematic does look fantastic, I'm kind of bummed that there's no teaser for what's coming to the game. But I guess after such a long wait, it would be nice for the fans to get a slight recap of what Sora has and his friends have gone through with the entire series.

The way Sora's journey has had so many twists and turns, I'm hoping that KH3 finds a good way to end the entire franchise on a high note.

Here's the official description:

The game will follow Sora as he tries to stop Master Xehanort from re-creating the x-blade in order to open Kingdom Hearts, while at the same time trying to save the hearts of Terra, Aqua, Ventus, Xion, and Roxas.

Kingdom Hearts III comes out Jan. 29, 2019.
