Watch: The Duality in Magic: The Gathering's Blue-Black


 

Have you ever wondered about the philosophy behind the color combinations of Magic: The Gathering? YouTuber DiceTry has launched a series of videos called Duality in Magic in which he intends to discuss all ten combinations of colors of Magic, and in this video, he discusses Blue-Black (a.k.a. Dimir). 

In this video, DiceTry first gives a brief explanation of each of the colors being discussed, then talks about what the two colors have in common: "a desire for power, self-improvement, and discovery." The video also highlights artwork from blue-black cards mostly from the Ravnica sets, discussing the blue-black guild, House Dimir. "Blue-black looks to the shadows to gain control over others," DiceTry explains. That's why many blue-black creatures are depicted as assassins, ninjas, and rogues who gather information and kill. DiceTry went on to highlight other creature types like liches, mages, necromancers, and shapeshifters to give us a deeper look the characteristics of blue-black cards. Watch the video below:
