Watch: Hans Zimmer and Billie Eilish Perform No Time to Die at the BRIT Awards

Billie Eilish had already made history when she was hired to be the youngest performer to sing a theme for the James Bond franchise. MGM had released the audio for her song No Time to Die, but thanks to the BRIT Awards, we get to watch her perform it live, with legendary composer Hans Zimmer, no less.

Check her out:

What’s interesting is, the song has all the Bond-isms that you can expect from a musical score, and it’s very far from Eilish’s usual material. If you go back and listen to the other themes from Craig’s era of Bond, you can find some common motifs that are peppered all over the opening themes. I actually like this one, but my favorite would probably be Adele’s Skyfall.

I’m not any expert in music, but I think it’s interesting that Zimmer would add synthesizers to the song. I’m guessing this is supposed to stand-in for the villain Safin (Rami Malek) who is said to be a tech terrorist. I just think the synths add a nice retro-futurism to the score.

With the audio officially released, I’m hopeful we get the intro animation online as well. Then again, we would probably have a separate music video as compared to the animation that they’ll use in the film.

Recruited to rescue a kidnapped scientist, globe-trotting spy James Bond finds himself hot on the trail of a mysterious villain, who's armed with a dangerous new technology.

Catch Craig’s last outing as Bond when No Time to Die hits theaters March 31, 2020.
