After doing some fantastic work as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek is set to take center stage as the new villain Safin in the 25th Bond movie, No Time to Die. Just in, we have a new image of Malek's villain in his signature mask.
Check it out:
While we don't know much about the mask yet, Malek tells Total Film (via GamesRadar) that there was a specific intent with the costume. He explains, "We didn't pick a mask off a wall willy-nilly… We had to think extremely specific as to what would make the most sense. If it doesn't make sense to the story and to the character, then arguably it loses impact."At least now people can stop joking about this Safin villain to be some kind of Phantom of the Opera rip-off.
Seeing that this is Daniel Craig's last movie as James Bond, the filmmakers promise to go all-out when it comes to the villain. Malek continues, "When it's Daniel's final film, and the 25th installment, you're going to throw everything at him." While the trailers have shown that Safin is proficient with a gun, it's also said that he's some kind of tech-based villain, very fitting since Malek had also played a super hacker in the series Mister Robot.
Recruited to rescue a kidnapped scientist, globe-trotting spy James Bond finds himself hot on the trail of a mysterious villain, who's armed with a dangerous new technology.
Catch Craig's last outing as Bond in No Time to Die when it hits theaters April 2.
