A lot of people can browse the internet a lot more freely now that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is now out in theaters, and just like always, Mr. Sunday Movies on Youtube has come up with a compilation video which covers every easter egg and reference found in the movie.
Myself being a casual fan of the Guardians from the comics, was able to know that the dog in the astronaut costume was Cosmo, and was pretty happy to see another nod to the character in GOTG Vol. 2. What I didn’t know was that Jeff Goldblum’s character, the Grandmaster, is apparently the Collector’s (Benecio del Toro) brother from the comics.
Aside from that, a lot of planets in the movie were actually places in the comics, and when Peter Quill says “Eternity” during Ego’s reveal, it could possibly harken to the character Eternity, who is the literal embodiment of the entire Marvel Universe.
There’s also a bunch of other things I haven’t pointed out, but that’s what the video is for! It’s just pretty cool to know how much detail has gone into making the movie.
