Star Wars’ Warwick Davis Casts Doubt On Disney+ Version Of Willow

Last year, fantasy fans were met with the pleasant news that Ron Howard's 1988 high fantasy cult film Willow would get a small-screen adaptation on Disney's new streaming site, Disney+. However, it seems like original Willow star Warwick Davis is casting doubt on the project.

The Star Wars: Return of the Jedi actor recently spoke in an interview with Inverse to talk about his career, and during the discussion with the publication, Davis got to talking about the Disney+ adaptation of Willow. While everyone's excited to see the high fantasy movie as a series on Disney+, Davis warns fans that nothing has been set in stone just yet.

"The internet has got a little bit ahead of us here," the actor told the entertainment news outlet, "There's a lot of work on development and working out what this potentially could be, but there's no definite green light, go, we're doing this."

While Davis says that the project hasn't been green lit just yet, the actor says that there's a large possibility that the project could become a reality.

"There's a lot of work going on. The right people have come together," Davis continued, "There's a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of goodwill from the right people and also from the fans. I think that's what's really so heartwarming is the enthusiasm from people around the world. So, yeah, no definite news there. I think there's a firm chance that this is going to be something that becomes a reality. Definitely."

So there's still hope, really. We'll just have to cross our fingers and wait and see.

For those who aren't familiar with the original movie, Willow is a high fantasy film where we get to see Davis playing a reluctant farmer who protects a special baby from a queen who vows to destroy the child and take over the world. The movie was written by George Lucas and Bob Dolman. It was produced by Lucasfilm.
