Ewan McGregor Talks About Obi-Wan Kenobi Delay

When it was announced that the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series would be delayed, a lot of fans started panicking since they think it could mean bad things for the Star Wars show. Realistically, we all know that some delays are for the greater good, especially if those reports about needing a stronger script is true. Ewan McGregor has opened up rather quickly about these delays, as he gave fans a reassuring update.

Speaking with Variety during a Birds of Prey event, McGregor said that these delays have been blown out of proportion and aren't as dramatic as one may think. He also told fans that they might be shooting the Star Wars spin-off next year instead of this summer, as they presumably wait for better scripts to shoot with. Here's hoping that Obi-Wan's first line is "hello there."

"I didn't realize until we got here tonight and everybody is going, ‘Oh, my god!' But it's not really as dramatic as it might seem."

These problems really aren't that major since rewrites and delays are done all the time. Sure, it would be nice to have this series start production sooner rather than later but since this doesn't have a proper release date anyway, we're down with giving them more time as long as we get a quality show from it.

Because of this delay, there is no firm release date for Obi-Wan Kenobi or whatever this series is going to be called. We're going to guess that a 2022 release date is the most likely option here but we'll wait and see.
