WarnerMedia Announces New Policy On Diversity And Inclusion

It looks like WarnerMedia is making a promise to commit to diversity, representation, and inclusion in its various films, television series, and projects.

According to a report by Deadline, WarnerMedia (which includes Warner Brothers, Turner, and HBO) just recently announced its new company-wide policy making sure that actors, actresses and crew members are going to be considered for is various movies, television shows, and other projects.

This new Diversity and Inclusion Policy of the company aims to provide different "opportunities for individuals from under-represented groups at all levels," and it seems like Warner Media plans to gather data to create an annual report on the progress of the new policy.

Here's is part of the statement that WarnerMedia issued out to the public:

"It is essential that our content and creative partners reflect the diversity of our society and the world around us. Together with other production companies, networks, guilds, unions, talent agencies and others in the industry, we all must ensure there is greater inclusion of women, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, those with disabilities and other underrepresented groups in greater numbers both in front of and behind the camera."

This is definitely a step towards progress. There has been a push for representation and inclusivity in Hollywood nowadays, with films like the DC Extended Universe's Wonder Woman and the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Black Panther proving that fans also enjoy films that are led by women and by people of color. Now, it looks like WarnerMedia is doing its best that inclusion and representation are also given behind the camera.
