Warner Brother’s Joker Origin Movie Might Receive An R-Rating For Nudity

It looks like Joaquin Phoenix's The Joker just might land itself an R Rating.

For the past few weeks, Warner Brothers has been busy filling out the cast list for its upcoming Joker origin movie. Gathering actors and actresses like Deadpool 2's Zazie Beetz, GLOW's Marc Maron, and Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro, Warner Brothers has managed to generate considerable hype over its upcoming Joker movie.

Described as a gritty character study of Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime, Todd Phillip's The Joker is being set outside the confines of the DC Extended Universe and now according to a rumor by The GWW, the film might be earning itself an R-Rating. According to the publication, the film has rumored nude scenes for a few of the smaller female roles and speculation has it these nude scenes might be for strip clubs and burlesque sets.

Of course, an R-Rating for The Joker barely comes as a surprise. How would Warner Brothers expect to deliver a "gritty character study" if it limits the film to a PG rating?

While an R-Rating would definitely limit the film's audience, R-Rated comic book movies have become quite the trend these days with 20th Century Fox's Logan and its Deadpool franchise. If Warner Brothers wants to experiment, then it shouldn't be afraid to dabble with a few R-Rated films.

The Joker origin movie doesn't have a release date yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
