Warner Brothers might have been veering away from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder and his plans for the DCEU, but it seems like the studio continues to use deleted footage from Justice League in Snyder's cut of the film for the marketing campaign of Aquaman.
Taking note of the final trailer for Jason Momoa's first standalone film as Arthur Curry, DC fans on Twitter like *Matthew* and Sam the sci-fi Stan point out that Aquaman's last trailer actually ends with footage taken from the Snyder Cut of the DCEU's Justice League.
For those who haven't seen the trailer just yet, the very end of the video shows shots of Arthur Curry on a dock with water spraying him in slow motion – a visually dramatic moment that's clearly taken from Justice League's early marketing campaign. This scene, however, didn't make Joss Whedon's cut of the movie when the Avengers director came on board to work on the reshoots of the film. Justice League had a rather troubled production last year. Snyder, the original director of Justice League, decided to step back from work to focus on his family after the death of his daughter earlier in 2017. Warner Brothers then put Whedon in charge of the film, and the director made a lot of significant changes to Justice League.
Now, with Warner Brothers using several Zack Snyder clips from Justice League in its marketing campaign for Aquaman, fans have started to wonder what it could all mean. Is the studio thinking of bringing Snyder back to the DCEU? Let's wait and see.
Aquaman comes swimming in cinemas December 21, 2019.
