Warner Bros. Reportedly Working on Detective Pikachu Spin-Off Starring [SPOILERS]

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu has everyone cautiously optimistic thanks to a solid trailer that showed a decent amount of comedy and amazing-looking CGI Pokemon. Fans are hoping this will be the first good movie based on a video game since there are so many duds based on them. However, even the most optimistic fans feel that a spin-off or sequel to Detective Pikachu would be too much but that might be something Warner Bros. is already doing.

Reports from We Got This Covered claims that there is a spin-off movie in the works and it will supposedly star a surprise villain from the film. Possible spoilers for Detective Pikachus so prepare yourself.

Apparently, this spin-off film will star Mewtwo, who might be the secret villain in this movie. How the 150th Pokemon ends up in the film isn't known yet but it does have an interesting story, being a bio-engineered monster created due to the existence of Mew. Seeing this Psychic-type Pokemon wreak havoc on the film would be fun but making a spin-off focused on this pocket monster is way too early.

Mewtwo has been in the big screen once already in Pokemon: The First Movie. Since the Pokemon was in the series' first anime movie, it would be fitting to see Mewtwo in the franchise's first foray into live-action.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu comes out on May 10, 2019.
