Detective Pikachu Rumor Says The Movie’s Secret Villain Has Been Revealed

There's been a lot of excitement building up over Rob Letterman's Detective Pikachu movie. The sci-fi action comedy mystery wowed fans when Warner Brothers dropped the film's trailer last month, showing off impressive computer graphics and a great mix between cute and seedy. Now, as the film approaches its release date, a new report circulating online suggests that one of Detective Pikachu's baddies might actually be a very familiar enemy.

We Got This Covered has the latest scoop on Detective Pikachu, and according to the entertainment news site, the movie might have man-made Pokemon Mewtwo as its secret villain. Not only will the film try to explore the Pokemon's origin story, but they'll also feature Mewtwo's evolution as one of the film's antagonists.

A Mewtwo origin would fit in right with the plot of Ryan Reynold's upcoming Pokemon movie. In Detective Pikachu, Tim Goodman decides to team up with his missing father's former partner, Detective Pikachu (who is voiced by Fox's Merc with a Mouth, Ryan Reynolds) to find Detective Goodman. However, the two soon uncover a plot that threatens both humans and Pokemon everywhere – a plot that would definitely have some room for Mewtwo.

First introduced in Pokemon Red and Blue back in the late '90s, Mewtwo was a Pokemon created from the DNA of the mythical Mew. A powerful but isolated Pokemon, Mewtwo grew to hate the human race and the Pokemon appeared in other games like Leaf Green, Fire Red, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon X and Y and so many other installments.
