As crazy as it sounds, all eyes are on the DC film franchise right now following the Warner Bros. Discovery merger. Over the last couple of weeks, CEO David Zaslav has already proven to be a difference maker for the franchise after announcing the cancelation of several film and TV projects, most notably Leslie Grace's standalone Batgirl film.

Zaslav's long-term plan for the franchise still remains unclear but his DC takeover has intrigued a lot of people. This is probably the reason why the WB Discovery executive has only ordered the production of one DC film, according to a new report, at least.

As reported by Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery has apparently only greenlit one DC project so far and it's Todd Phillips' Joker: Folie à Deux starring Joaquin Phoenix and pop star Lady Gaga who will play Harley Quinn. It's worth noting that the film takes place outside the main DCEU continuity but if this news tells you anything, it's that DC's "Elseworld" universe will remain intact despite rumors suggesting that Zaslav wants one cohesive universe.

Of course, it doesn't come as a surprise how WB Discovery would choose to prioritize the Joker sequel, especially considering the original crossed $1 billion at the global box office, something that we all know is a rare occurrence with DC movies. I gotta say though, it's still quite baffling how Zaslav has yet to give Matt Reeves his blessing to work on The Batman 2 although recent reports say the director has been actively working on the project.

Speaking of the DCEU, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam is still on track to release in cinemas on October 21, 2023.
