A while ago, we reported that a WandaVision spin-off series is in development that would focus on villainess Agatha Harkness, with Kathryn Hahn expected to reprise the role. The news came from the major trades so it is widely assumed that it is a legit report. But as it turns out, it might not be true at all.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight during the red carpet premiere of the upcoming Apple TV+ series The Shrink Next Door, Hahn seemingly denied the reports that a spin-off series surrounding her character is currently in the works. She said, "I don't know if there is such a thing as a WandaVision spin-off, honey. I have to be honest, all I can say is I love Agatha. As we know, anything can happen in Marvel. So who knows?"
If you look at the video clip, you can tell that Hahn was playing coy and perhaps she wasn't allowed by Marvel Studios yet to talk about the project which is why she responded that way. This isn't the first time that an MCU star denied their casting after the news came. Last year, Tatiana Maslany denied that she is starring in She-Hulk after the news was reported by the major trades. But months later, Marvel Studios eventually confirmed her casting.
The reports surrounding the project came from the major trades so there is a reason to believe that the news is very much true. Even with Hahn's recent denial, the status should at least remain that way. We know how secretive Marvel Studios is when it comes to their projects and we can assume that they instructed Hahn to avoid discussing the project whenever she gets interviewed until they confirm it themselves.
The potential Agatha Harkness spinoff series is said to be a dark comedy. WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer will serve as the writer and executive producer. It has also been reported that Hahn signed a deal with Marvel Studios to play the character in multiple films and series.
