WandaVision Reminisces Ultron Leading to a Devastating Consequence

WandaVision's third episode titled Now in Color gave an emotional moment. Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) had to relive her traumatic past where she lost a loved one due to one of the most iconic villains in the Avengers' films.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD. The following contains spoilers for WandaVision Episode 3

WandaVision's first two episodes referenced some parts of the Avengers: Age of Ultron which was central to Wanda Maximoff and Vision's (Paul Bettany) backstories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Episode 3, Now in Color, not only referenced the events that happen in Age of Ultron but also the traumatic incident in Wanda's past.

It all started when Geraldine or Monica Rambeau (Tenoyah Parris) visited Wanda to help with her pregnancy which resulted in her giving birth to twins. In a casual manner yet subtly mournful, Wanda mentioned that she had a twin named Pietro.

This led Geraldine to say, "He was killed by Ultron, wasn't he?" Her response gets a powerful and strong response from Wanda, demanding to know why she asked this. Geraldine seemingly pretends she doesn't understand even when Wanda noticed her S.W.O.R.D. necklace and began questioning who she truly is.

Wanda was ultimately furious, to the point that Geraldine was kicked out of Westview. This is seemingly a sign that Scarlet Witch is going to do everything in her power to stop anyone from intruding into her new reality.

The scene was long overdue as the MCU which further locks WandaVision's canonicity. It needed to address one of the most painful things that happened to Wanda. The death of her brother and how Wanda reacted when reminded about it showed that the loss left a mental trauma to her.

As the episodes progress, it seems like Wanda is having a hard time keeping up the charade. Time will tell until Wanda can no longer keep her grief buried after losing her twin and her beloved Vision.
