With Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and The Eternals expected to theaters next year, and a number of MCU shows coming to Disney+ in 2021, it's clear that Marvel Studios has changed things up. The Disney+ Marvel shows have garnered a lot of attention since they're being used to tease a number of movies coming to Phase Four, with WandaVision being the biggest suspect.
Not only will WandaVision tease huge events for Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness but it's also going to turn Wanda Maximoff into the Scarlet Witch, a name synonymous with the character and has yet to be used in the MCU. During CCXP 2019 (via Omelette and Comic Book Movie), Kevin Feige continued to tease what that name could mean for Wanda and the wider MCU in Phase Four.
This is what Feige told the crowd in CCXP:
"Having the opportunity to tell more of their story, to see more of what Wanda can do, more of what makes Vision Vision, and ā most importantly ā reveal a name that I'm not even sure we've said in the MCU yet, but we absolutely make a big deal of in the show, which is that Wanda is in fact the Scarlet Witch. What does that mean, that she is the Scarlet Witch? And that's what we play into in this show, in ways that are entirely fun, entirely funny, somewhat scary, and will have repercussions for the entire future Phase 4 of the MCU."
During her comic book struggles as the Scarlet Witch, Wanda has done a number of horrible things to The Avengers and the wider MCU. In Avengers: Disassembled, her warped psyche forced the superhero team to face down their old threats in a continuous gauntlet, which led to the deaths of Ant-Man (Scott Lang), Hawkeye, and The Vision. She also wiped out 98% of the Mutant race after House of M, which was only reversed after the events of Avengers Vs X-Men.
Basically, s**t is going to hit the fan once Wanda becomes Scarlet Witch. WandaVision hits Disney+ in 2021, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.
