WandaVision Episode 8 Recap: Wanda Finally Reveals How Westview Hex Started

We all had questions about WandaVision and luckily, we finally have the answers. Episode 8 dropped several bombshells at the same time, including the revelation of why Wanda Maximoff created the Hexagon around Westview in the first place.

WARNING: The following contains SPOILERS from WandaVision Episode 8! Proceed with caution!

In Previously On, we are brought back to the past for a glimpse at Agatha Harkness' history. In Salem 1693, Agatha is captured by a coven of witches who accuse her of using dark magic. They try to kill her for the act but instead, she drains the life from them.

Agatha may have been subject to interrogation in the past but in the present day, she does the same to Wanda, demanding to know how she is controlling Westview. To get to the truth, Agatha forces Wanda to relive key moments of her life.

Amazingly, one of these moments revealed that Wanda ensured her and Pietro's survival when they had to sit beside an unexploded bomb amidst the rubble of their home. It confirms that Wanda had used her powers to stop the bomb from exploding and that she had powers since birth.

It is those powers that become activated when Hydra experimented on Wanda with the Mind Stone. Not surprisingly, her next memory is the fond moment she and Vision grew closer at the Avengers compound.

Wanda's memories are far from happy all the time. When she visits S.W.O.R.D., she did attempt to take Vision's body. However, when she tries to touch the corpse, she claims she can't feel Vision and leaves in disappointment.

The final memory sees Wanda arriving in Westview to find the lot Vision had bought for her with the intention for them to live together. In despair, Wanda creates a house on the lot, manifests a new version of Vision, and extends The Hex across the entire town.

It's amazing to finally learn just what happened to Westview but that's not the biggest surprise in WandaVision Episode 8. Agatha also reveals that Wanda is actually the real Scarlet Witch.

WandaVision Episode 8 is titled Previously On. The episode is now available for streaming on Disney+.
