Warning: if you haven't seen the latest episode of WandaVision yet, this article contains SPOILERS so read at your own risk.

WandaVision just premiered its seventh episode and although I think it lacked a major "wow" moment (especially if you're a longtime follower of the Scarlet Witch comics just like I am), it still delivered in my view, and was a pretty solid entry overall. Episode 7 explores the aftermath of Wanda expanding the hex and the consequences she's facing for doing so.

Speaking of consequences, another character is dealing with the long-term effects caused by her entanglement with the Westview anomaly and I'm talking about none other than Monica Rambeau. Episode 6 teased that Rambeau may be on her way to becoming Photon/Spectrum, Captain Marvel's longtime ally in the comics as Darcy revealed that the energy source from the hex is changing something in Monica's genes.

Monica had close contact with the hex twice already and in Episode 7, titled "Breaking the Fourth Wall", the S.W.O.R.D. agent once again tried her luck in entering Wanda's expanded pocket reality in hopes of talking some sense into Maximoff and proving that she's actually an ally she can trust. However, even with the help of an advanced rover, she was unsuccessful in penetrating the energy field.

Despite the risk and uncertainty, Monica would later try passing through the hex on her own. Her attempt was a success and not only that, but it may have awakened her true powers. After her mini struggle, we finally see Monica back inside Wanda's version of Westview, and right off the bat, Monica's aura feels different and in a good way.

She later finds herself in another altercation with Wanda who's quite surprised to see Monica back in her reality. Maximoff tries to use her powers against her anew but this time around, Monica was surprisingly able to hold her off.

In Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers got her powers from accidental contact with a blast caused by the Tesseract and as fate would have it, Maria Rambeau's daughter Monica would experience the same thing.

Episode 7 is clearly setting up Monica to make her heroic transformation and even the S.W.O.R.D. the shirt she wears is a dead giveaway as it resembles Spectrum's comic book costume. The question is, could her powers be enough to put a stop to Wanda's madness? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
