Fans had several expectations when it came to the final episode of WandaVision. For instance, people were truly expecting to see Doctor Strange flying in to help Scarlet Witch in the epic showdown between witches. Unfortunately, that didn't happen but Jac Schaeffer has an explanation as to why the Sorceror Supreme didn't show up.
Schaeffer, who served as head writer and executive producer on WandaVision, recently spoke to Deadline about the series. In addition to discussing Quicksilver's possible return, Schaeffer explained that although she wanted Benedict Cumberbatch to appear in the Disney+ show, it was just not meant to be.
"I heart Doctor Strange just like anybody. Yeah, it's one of those things, that's how the chips fell, that's how the cookie crumbled, is what I will say, but I look forward to seeing him on screen with Wanda in Doctor Strange 2," Schaeffer said.
Although that's not the explanation we wanted, it does confirm that Schaeffer was hoping to write the Sorceror Supreme into WandaVision. However, it looks like Marvel Studios has other plans for Stephen Strange. Or perhaps Cumberbatch's schedule just didn't make things work.
We didn't get to see Doctor Strange in WandaVision but there was an awesome reference to the character. In addition to that, the post-credits scene may have teased why Wanda Maximoff will end up working with the Sorceror Supreme in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
In the final moment of WandaVision, Scarlet Witch's astral form is shown studying the Darkhold when she suddenly hears the voices of her sons, Billy and Tommy. It could confirm that the twins are still alive and need her help to get back to their mother's dimension. Hopefully, Doctor Strange will be able to help Wanda.
All nine episodes of WandaVision are now available for streaming on Disney+. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will premiere on March 25, 2022.
