WandaVision: Kathryn Hahn Says Agatha's Fate isn't Punishment

Agatha Harkness may have been evil for trying to steal Wanda Maximoff's powers but it looks like Scarlet Witch didn't actually punish the other witch for what she had done. WandaVision star Kathryn Hahn claims that being turned back into Agnes and being stuck in Westview isn't exactly punishment for Agatha.

In WandaVision Episode 9, Agatha tried to take Wanda's powers but was ultimately overpowered when Wanda became the Scarlet Witch. Wanda then put a spell on Agatha so she went back to her Agnes identity believing she is a resident of Westview.

Surely, this sounds like a punishment. However, Hahn told The New York Times that Agatha actually enjoys the idea of being Agnes, at least for the time being.

"I actually don't think, ultimately, that she minds it. She needed to rest for a hot second. She's been very restless. I think she was very lonely, for a very, very long time. She loves having the companionship — loves the mailman, loves Ralph, loves Dottie. For the moment, I think she's actually OK to just loosen the corset and sit and have a muffin and a latte," Hahn said.

Interestingly, it also looked like Agnes/Agatha didn't remember anything that happened before she set eyes on Scarlet Witch. At one point, it even looks like she's flirting with Wanda. Some fans believe it confirms that Agatha actually liked Wanda and that she had no real plans of harming the woman.

For now, it looks like Agatha is quite content with playing Agnes in Westview. However, there are speculations that she won't stay in town for long. It is believed that Wanda will call on Agatha yet again to get help in using the Darkhold and hopefully finding her sons Billy and Tommy.

All nine episodes of WandaVision are now streaming on Disney+. Elizabeth Olsen will return as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which premieres on March 25, 2022.
