WandaVision Director Tapped to Helm Godzilla and the Titans TV Series

A few months ago, it was reported that an untitled Godzilla and the Titans TV series set in the MonsterVerse franchise is in the works at Apple TV+. The project has been gaining steam in the past few weeks with rumors that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's Wyatt Russell is being eyed to star in the series. Now, it looks like another familiar name in the MCU is now officially attached to the project.

According to Variety, WandaVision director Matt Shakman has been tapped to helm the first two episodes of the untitled Godzilla and the Titans TV series as well as serve as an executive producer. Chris Black and Matt Fraction co-created the series with both also serving as executive producers. Black will also serve as the showrunner.

The series' logline reads: "Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the Monsterverse series will explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch."

Shakman's hiring in the project comes after his Emmy-nominated work as the director of all episodes of WandaVision. He is also set to direct the fourth Star Trek film which is believed to be still in development. His previous works include directing episodes of TV shows such as The Boys, Succession, The Great, Game of Thrones, Billions, Fargo, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and many more.

It is great to hear the news of Shakman's hiring to helm the first two episodes of the series as he has proven in WandaVision that he is a terrific director who is capable of telling a story in a bigger scope on television medium. There is no denial that he is qualified to helm a project like this. This is also a sign that the development of the series is moving forward and we might be hearing the official casting reports in the next few weeks or months.
