WandaVision Director Says MCU Series was Meant To Be Longer

There is little doubt that the final episode of WandaVision was a fitting conclusion for the Marvel Cinematic Universe series. However, it looks like the Disney+ show could have been a little longer. Director Matt Shakman has just revealed that the series almost had the tenth episode.

Shakman was recently a guest on Kevin Smith's Fatman Beyondpodcast where he spoke about working on WandaVision. Interestingly, the director revealed that there were several changes made throughout production and that included the number of episodes.

"The story was changing, especially a lot of the real-world stuff and the finale. There was a lot of experimentation going on and sort of trying different things out. We also at one point had 10 episodes planned and we ended up collapsing a couple, you know just to make the rhythm feel a little bit better," Shakman said.

This is interesting news considering that fans believed that the nine episodes would not be enough to tell the show's story. In fact, there have been speculations that a 10th episode will be released this week. However, it looks like WandaVision is officially over.

Fans have long been wondering about the episode count and considered nine episodes a little too short for an MCU series. On the other hand, WandaVision proved that every bit of the story that needed to be told has already been revealed in the show. Perhaps if there is the tenth episode, it would simply be a recap of everything that happened in the series.

All nine episodes of WandaVision are now streaming on Disney+.
