Manga readers are in for a treat as VIZ Media announced a new manga subscription service. Called VIZ Manga, this new service will feature Shojo Beat titles as well as manga serials from Shogakukan.

This new service won’t replace VIZ Media’s existing Shonen Jump service, nor will it be an add-on to that service.

Instead, this will be its own manga platform that will give fans access to over 10,000 manga chapters.

Along with its wide digital library, the service will also feature simulpub releases for select series.

VIZ Media is a well-known publishing company for manga fans outside Japan.

After all, VIZ is the official publisher of some of the most popular manga titles, including the likes of One Piece, Demon Slayer, Naruto, and more.

Along with being the publisher of physical manga releases, VIZ also has the Shonen Jump manga subscription service (which is a separate service from Weekly Shonen Jump and Jump+).

Via this paid service, ongoing Weekly Shonen Jump and Jump+ manga from Japan are given English simulpub releases.

Plus, it also offers a digital vault where subscribers can read past chapters.

Aside from Shueisha, VIZ Media is also the official partner for Shogakukan, the publisher of Weekly Shonen Sunday, which is the home of popular titles like Case Closed (Detective Conan), Urusei Yatsura, Inuyasha, and more.

This makes sense as VIZ Media is co-owned by Shueisha and Shogakukan. Though in the last years, VIZ’s digital releases were mostly of Shueisha’s shonen titles.

Finally, VIZ Media is publishing more Shogakukan manga, as well as series from its Shojo Beat imprint through the new VIZ Manga service.

This new manga platform was announced just recently by VIZ, and it was also released as soon as the reveal was made.

The service’s announcement was made via a video featuring VIZ Media CEO Ken Sasaki, who shared more details about the platform:

In VIZ Manga, readers will be treated to simulpub releases of Call of the Night, Komi Can’t Communicate, and other works, primarily from Shogakukan.

This likely means most Shonen Sunday titles will get simulpub releases.

Meanwhile, there will also be a digital vault containing iconic works such as Rumiko Takahashi’s manga, the iconic shojo Nana, and even Junji Ito’s Uzumaki.

VIZ Manga is available with a price of USD 1.99. For now, the service is only available in North America, though expansion plans are in the pipeline.
