Here's What Happened Before Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 4

In Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 3, entitled Snake, Badger and Fox took Olmar with them for a drinking session.

Olmar was sloshed as he complained about how no one was understanding him.

Meanwhile, Fox and Badger thought he wasn’t a good drinking partner and that they made a mistake by inviting him over. Olmar overheard them and confronted the duo.

Fox explained that they were useful in fights but Olmar countered that he never saw them perform anything.

Olmar then asked them to draw their swords as he wanted to test them.

However, Olmar was easily defeated as the duo took his sword. Olmar was annoyed and wanted them to kill him because he was a nobody.

Fox noted that Olmar did not like getting treated like a child. He told him that if he want to become a real man, he needed to kill a person.

Fox added that after he kills someone, he would be filled with confidence. Olmar wondered who can he go after, and Fox revealed he got the perfect target for him.

Elsewhere, Einar woke up and went out to relieve himself. He then heard Thorfinn scream and rushed to check on him.

Thorfinn looked confused and Einar wondered if it was a bad dream. However, Thorfinn said he forgot what the dream was about.

Later, they went out to wash their faces at the well and ran into the woman Einar saw the other day. The woman said she was done washing.

Einar remarked that even if he washed his face it would be the same. However, the woman complimented Einar for his pretty face.

She revealed her name as Arnheid and asked Einar if he joined the farm recently. Einar stated that he came from England.

Arnheid was surprised by how good Einar’s language was and wondered if he was Norse. He explained that his village folks were descendants from the Nordic region and they used both English and Norse.

Einar found out that Arnheid was not Ketil’s daughter but just another slave who worked as Ketil’s personal attendant.

Meanwhile, Fox and Badger appeared and Fox asked if they plotting their escape.

Then Fox asked Thorfinn his name while Badger wondered who Einar was as he didn’t recognize him. Fox told Einar and Thorfinn to follow him.

Meanwhile, Einar was wondering why were they carrying swords. Thorfinn told Einar that they were “guests” who were tasked to guard the farm.

They met with Olmar and gave him a sword. Fox instructed Olmar to attempt a nice slice. Einar was clueless about what was happening.

Fox explained that he wanted Olmar to become a man and that it was Einar’s day to die. Einar was fuming as he asked what did they do to deserve this.

Fox mentioned that the owner can do anything he wanted with his slaves and that included ending their life.

Olmar intervened and said that both Thorfinn and Einar were his father’s property and if they kill any one of them, he would need to pay back Ketil.

Fox was disappointed and accused Olmar of getting scared of his father. Olmar denied the accusation and then Fox tried to instigate him.

Einar told Thorfinn to run away as he charged toward Olmar and took him down. Einar started brawling with Olmar and he told Thorfinn to inform Ketil about this.

Meanwhile, Thorfinn did not move as two swords were pointed at him. He was threatened against making any move and was forced to watch Einar and Olmar fight.

Thorfinn said that they can leave Einar and instead kill him. He added that they needed to kill just one person and they can spare Einar’s life.

Meanwhile, Snake woke up and looked around. He then called his old man for food.

The old man asked Snake to help him with the harvest if he wanted any food.

Snake refused and the old man told him that he can go figure out his food situation by himself.

Snake was not in the mood to cook and decided to leave for home.

Elsewhere, the men were shocked by Thorfinn’s declaration. Fox asked if he understood what cutting down meant and Thorfinn stated that he was willing to die.

Einar was trying to stop him but Badger shut him down. Fox explained that statements like these would devalue the product.

He wondered about the product they were selling, and Fox mentioned that they sell death. Fox added that everyone was afraid of death and Olmar, too, was afraid of killing someone.

Then, Fox took out his sword and made a tiny cut on Thorfinn’s chest. He then commented that Thorfinn should fear death.

Fox went on to inflict a few more cuts and announced that Thorfinn should beg for his life.

Suddenly, Snake appeared and saw that Thorfinn stood tall despite Fox cutting him.

Snake remembered that Thorfinn was Ketil’s slave. Meanwhile, Thorfinn wondered if their lives as slaves had any meaning.

At this point, Fox was frustrated and cut a part of his left ear and noted that he will aim for his eye next.

Fox was ready to strike but Snake screamed at him. Meanwhile, Fox froze after hearing Snake yell at him.

Snake ordered Fox to come to him and landed a punch on his face. Snake then asked Badger to explain everything.
