Thor: Love and Thunder is shaping up to be an Avengers-caliber film with the inclusion of the Guardians of the Galaxy. So far, we already know that both Chris Pratt and Vin Diesel have signed on to reprise their roles as Star-Lord and Groot for the fourth installment in the Thor series. Other GOTG cast members are also expected to appear in the Chris Hemsworth project which will also see the debut of Natalie Portman's version of the God of Thunder.
Diesel has been attached to the MCU franchise since 2014 and over the course of the Infinity saga, Groot has always been portrayed as a secondary character who can only utter the words "I am Groot". However, that could change in Thor: Love and Thunder. A new report from tipster Daniel Richtman (via Patreon) claims that Diesel will appear in person in the film with Groot being transformed into a human being, presumably because of a magic spell. Of course, this is only a rumor for now so take it with a tree-sized grain of salt.
It'll be interesting to see if Bradley Cooper's character Rocket Raccoon will also suffer the same fate as his trusty tree companion. However, I don't expect them to stick around as humans for a long period of time should the rumors end up being true. It's probably just a way for them to get some legit screen time in the franchise and honestly, I'd like for them to remain as CGI'd characters. Permanently turning them into human beings would take away the charm of Groot and Rocket.
Thor: Love and Thunder will begin production soon.
