Venom: Tom Hardy Clarifies Comments About His Favorite Scenes Getting Cut

Yesterday Tom Hardy made headlines when he said that about 40 minutes of his favorite parts were cut from Venom, but now he's gone into full PR mode to clarify the comments that he made.

Talking to IGN, Hardy explains that he was referring more to the material that he improvised as compared to actual important moments. Hardy says:

"Me, and the other executive producers know full well that has nothing to do with the story, but nevertheless would I like to watch a seven-hour version of Venom? Yep, but that's just me as an actor but the truth of it is everything that we wanted is in the story. Everything I want is in the story and more and the film is awesome and I'm excited and I just want to shoot a sequel."

These comments come right after the premiere which admittedly ended up with a mixed bag of reviews for Venom. On one hand, some people are calling it the worst superhero film since Catwoman, while others are saying that the film is incredibly faithful to the source material and is still a fun ride if you don't look at it too seriously.

Though I don't really like to see movies fail, there could be a silver lining when it comes to the case of Venom. Maybe this time, Sony will finally stop attempting to make their own cinematic universe and hand over the creative reigns to Marvel Studios. With films for Kraven the Hunter and Morbius announced, a lot of fans are convinced that Sony is just scraping the bottom of the barrel to try and push their own version of the MCU.

I do have to admit that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse does look amazing, though.

Venom is set to hit theaters Oct. 5.
