Venom Production Delayed By A Month

Despite the successful release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Sony is still moving forward with their Venom solo movie starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. Production was supposed to begin later in the month, but news has it that it will be delayed to October.

According to a post on Reddit, the delay is due to an additional location of San Francisco to the production which already included cities like New York and Atlanta. With Spider-Man's new origin closely tied to Queens, I'm curious where Sony is going to place this new Venom movie.

Rumors suggest that this origin movie will be drawing from the Ultimate Spider-Man storyline. Instead of being an alien symbiote from outer space, the Venom suit will be an experimental bio-suit which was invented by both Peter Parker and Eddie Brock's fathers in the hopes to cure cance. As you can expect—things go horribly wrong.

As of now, a lot of fans are scratching their heads over Sony trying to make a movie outside of their new Spider-Man world. Even though reception for the new Spider-verse is well-liked by fans, it's confusing why they want to continue building their own cinematic universe outside of the MCU.

Maybe the script for Venom was just too good to pass up? We'll just have to wait for the movie to find out.

Venom is set to come out Oct. 5, 2018.
