Venom Adds Production Designer From Spider-Man Homecoming

Sony has made a lot of money with Spider-Man: Homecoming, and though the Venom spinoff movie won't share the same universe. Sony may be trying to make sure that both movies look the same at least.

News has it that the production of Venom has added Oliver Scholl to the production team. Scholl had also worked on Spider-Man: Homecoming before, and his inclusion to the crew could mean that though Sony is putting this Venom movie in a different universe, they are not ignoring the fact that Venom's origins lie with Spider-Man.

For now, we don't have any official synopsis for the film, but rumors have suggested that the movie will be drawing inspiration from the Ultimate Spider-Man comics in the sense that the symbiote is not an alien, but an experimental suit that Eddie Brock's father created with Richard Parker (Peter Parker's dad) in the hopes of curing cancer.

Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) has been hired to direct the movie, and Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road) has been cast as lead Venom/Eddie Brock. Other characters from the universe are also set to appear, but what people really want to see is an appearance from Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

Venom is slated for a release on Oct. 5, 2018.
