Venom 2 Unveils Marvel's Version of DC's Arkham Asylum

Venom: Let There Be Carnage recently released its new trailer. Fans are excited about the sequel and to see Carnage commit destruction. However, an interesting part is a fact that the movie will introduce Marvel's version of an infamous location in the DC universe.

Sony is pushing forward with its Spider-Man spin-off films in collaboration with Marvel. Venom received strong box office returns in 2018. The first film established some of the main characters, especially Eddie Brock, which is played by Tom Hardy.

The sequel is set to expand the franchise's world even more. Another interesting facet of the sequel is that Venom: Let There Be Carnage will have the Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane. This is Marvel's version of DC's Arkham Asylum in Batman's world. However, the Ravencroft was seen burned down but it may not mean that it is already gone.

The Ravencroft Institute was established in the Spider-man franchise in the 90s. Various major Spider-Man villains have been sent to the Ravencroft Institute. The most dangerous inmate within the institute was Cletus Kasady who became Carnage. Cletus is a serial killer who was able to bond with a symbiote that turned him into the monstrous Carnage.

As the Ravencroft Institute holds some very powerful villains, the institute has been destroyed multiple times. This is why even though it was seen burned in the trailer, it doesn't mean that it has been entirely decimated or gone for good. It can be rebuilt for future films and may become a source of conflict due to the types of villains in it.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage will be released on September 24, 2021.
