Aside from Plec, Vampire Academy’swriter and producer Marguerite MacIntyre also worked on The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals and Legacies. By the looks of it, it’s not far that the new Peacock show will have a touch of the hit eight-season original series.

What is The Vampire Academy Will Be About?

The Vampire Academy will be set in the boarding school called St. Vladimir’s Academy, where the young vampires hone their abilities.

It will feature the story of the guardian-in-training Dhampir, Rose Hathaway (Sisi Stringer), and the Moroni Princess Lissa Dragomir (Daniela Nieves).

According to MacIntyre, via ScreenRant, Vampire Academy will be relevant today as it sheds light on “class divides” that still exist in the real world’s “unjust systems.”

The Difference Between Vampire Academy and The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries features the themes of love, lust, depression, and grief, while Vampire Academy will focus on a flawed class system.

MacIntyre added the new series would be more unique as it will feature different vampire rules.

If The Vampire Diaries introduced several supernatural breeds like werewolves, tribrids, witches, and phoenixes, Vampire Diary would only present three types of vampires: Moroi, Damphir, and Strigoi.

It will also center on the friendship of Rose and Princess Lissa—far different from the love triangle between Elena (Nina Dobrev), Stefan (Paul Wesley), and Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

The Similarities Between Vampire Academy and The Vampire Diaries

Of course, if there are differences, there will also be similarities. They are both set in the academy, and only that Vampire Academy will have political undertones.
